It was expected to be a director of Zagreb high school who would address a gathering of local Medjugorje parents and students for the first of a series of Lenten forums, but when the former Minister of Education Lilja Vokić failed to turn up for the meeting because she was stuck in traffic, someone came up with a suggestion to call the Medjugorje visionary Vicka.
To everyone’s surprise and delight Vicka agreed to address the meeting instead. Phones were buzzing with the news that Vicka was on her way and in the 15 minutes before the start of the meeting the number of attendees quadrupled.
It was a historic occasion for the group of parishioners. No one could remember Vicka ever previously addressing the local community as a group and wondered why in over 30 years such an arrangement to meet with parishioners in this way had not been considered before.
Needless to say, the evening proved a great success and will no doubt do much to boost numbers for the next meeting of the Lenten lecture series.
